COVID-19 and “Social Distancing”

Coronaviruses are a type of virus. There are many different kinds, and some cause disease. A coronavirus identified in 2019, SARS-CoV-2, has caused a pandemic of respiratory illness, called COVID-19. https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/coronavirus

How does the coronavirus spread?

As of now, researchers know that the coronavirus is spread through droplets and virus particles released into the air when an infected person breathes, talks, laughs, sings, coughs or sneezes. Larger droplets may fall to the ground in a few seconds, but tiny infectious particles can linger in the air and accumulate in indoor places, especially where many people are gathered and there is poor ventilation. This is why mask-wearing, hand hygiene and physical distancing are essential to preventing COVID-19.

With everything that’s going on in and around our region, I wanted to quickly let you all know that we must adhere to the advice from our Health officials and abide by the Government’s recommendations to remain in self-isolation and use “social distancing” if we do need to be out for supplies.  This is not the time to think you are indestructible or immune to such an illness…now is the time to self-isolate so you don’t take the risk to spread this COVID-19 or other related illnesses to those who may have weakened immune systems or respiratory illnesses.

Be diligent in washing your hands, keeping surfaces disinfected, staying calm, and checking in on friends and family (via, skype, phone, email, facetime…the list goes on)  Be mindful of your neighbors and reach out to see if they are doing well or if they need anything.  If you must go get medications, groceries, or other needed supplies, please be mindful and don’t linger and chat…there will be plenty of time for that in the coming months after we get through this time of uncertainty

Stay Safe and Be Well my friends.
